DIRECTIONS
If you are driving and using you GPS, check the box next to “avoid ferries” or you may be instructed to go down Canal Street to the ferry. This ferry is accessible by passengers only.
If you are not driving, we would suggest an Uber or Lyft (which we prefer as they are cheaper, know the city, and all have a GPS).
Like all cities, we have many cab companies and many of their drivers do not know the city very well or not know how to use their GPS. Print out these directions for them.
DIRECTIONS FROM THE AIRPORT / I-10 (EAST OR WEST)
- Take I-10 towards New Orleans. You will see signs for Business District/Westbank/Highway 90. Follow the signs.
- Drive to the Westbank on the Mississippi River Bridge (Greater New Orleans Bridge). Take the General DeGaulle East exit. At the first red light turn left onto Shirley Drive. Follow to end and at the red light turn left onto General Meyer.
- At next the red light, turn right onto Behrman Place. This bears left at the end into Opelousas Avenue.
- Continue to a small park on your right (about ½ mile) and turn right onto Seguin Street.
- Go to stop sign and turn right onto Pelican Ave. We are on the right of that block at number 335 (pink house, white-picket fence, second house from the end of the block).
DIRECTIONS FROM HOUMA
- From Highway 90, take the Business 90 East exit to the Westbank. Follow to the elevated expressway. Take exit 9 (Terry Parkway/General DeGaulle).
- Turn right at second red light onto General DeGaulle Drive. Turn left almost immediately at first red light onto Shirley Drive. Follow to end and at red light turn left onto General Meyer.
- At next red light turn right onto Behrman Place. This bears left at the end into Opelousas Avenue.
- Continue to a small park on your right (about ½ mile) and turn right onto Seguin Street.
