The House of the Rising Sun Bed and Breakfast offers three unique guest rooms: the “Red” Allen room, the “Memphis Minnie” room, and the “Frogman” Henry room. Scroll down to see photos of each guest room and learn about all of the amenities we offer with your stay.
2025 RATES & TAXES
Our regular room rate is $150 per night (two night minimum).
Special event pricing starts at $200 per night (two night minimum, pricing depends on the event).
State and city taxes will be applied at a rate of 10% plus a Hotel Occupancy Tax of 50 cents per room, per night. No hidden fees will be added to your stay.
Two nights deposit will be charged after your booking request is confirmed.
Breakfast included. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions or allergies you may have in advance of your arrival.
The “Red” Allen Room
The “Red” Allen Room offers a four-poster King Rice bed, Asian décor, and a private bathroom a short distance away.
Named after Henry “Red” Allen, one of the most famous jazz trumpet players of yesteryear who played with Louis Armstrong.
Born in Algiers, “Red” would have a very successful career in Swing and Jazz music.
The “Memphis Minnie” Room
The “Memphis Minnie” Room features a queen size bed and an adjacent private bathroom.
Named after Blues legend Lizzie Douglas, better known as “Memphis Minnie.” Born in Algiers, she would become one the greatest female Blues singer/guitarists of all time.
The “Frogman” Henry Room
The “Frogman” Henry room has a King size bed and a private bathroom adjacent.
Named after Rock & Roll star, Clarence “Frogman” Henry. He was born and remained all his life in Algiers. He had many hits including “(I Don’t Know Why) But I Do,” “You Always Hurt The One You Love,” and “Ain’t Got No Home”.
* This room is usually only available for special occasions like Jazz Fest or French Quarter Fest, but always ask
on the off chance it is available and not showing as such. *

All guest rooms are fully insulated and include the following features for your comfort and convenience:

All guest bedrooms have private bathrooms which are equipped with hair dryers, towels, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, lotion, conditioner, etc.
* Please do not encourage our dog, Otis, in your bedrooms and keep your doors closed to prevent him from sneaking in. *
OTHER AMENITIES
- Free continental breakfast – Depending on availability, you will find a combination of fruit salad, Greek yogurt, granola and/or mixed cereals, bagels, English muffins, crumpets, cheeses, snack bars, pastries, croissants, proper English tea/herbal teas (decaf available), coffee (decaf available), and orange juice.
- Swimming pool – There is no life guard so please behave sensibly when using the pool. No diving or jumping in. Pool hours are from 10am to 7pm. There is a toilet, wash basin, and shower in the cabana for guests’ use. Towels are supplied and kept in the cabana. No drinking glasses to be used around the pool. We have plastic cups so please ask if you need them. No food or drink in the pool. Please use Jelly Roll’s Jumpin’ Juke Joint (our back porch).

- Free use of laundry facilities (washer/dryer) and iron, between 10am and 4pm
- Use of front and rear covered porches (Highly encouraged! Watch the world go by and talk to the neighbors. Sorry, no smoking here or anywhere else on the property.)

- Large selection of books and magazines – Please do not remove from living room.
